The ASP Report Wizard has the ability to
generate hierarchical and master-detail reports.
There are 2 basic display formats for these
reports:
The tabular hier format and the columnar master-detail report formats shown below.
Master-Detail Hierarchical
Master-Detail (Columnar)
To create such a report you need to do the following steps carefully:
Select 2 or more related tables (e.g. Orders & Order Details) and click Build Report
Select the fields you want displayed
Select Master-Detail as the Report Type
Enter your tables' relationship in the field provided and make sure everything looks similar to the screen shot below:
Advance to the next screen. Set your field captions and field output formats. Make sure you select the correct master table. in our case, it would be Orders. Your dialog box should look something like the image below:
At this point you can click on Finish to generate a hierachical master-detail (tabular) report.
If you wish to generate a master-detail columnar report,
advance 2 screens to the section Add a title and description to your report, enter your page size (1 preferably) and
and select the Columnar (Form) report format
